Shine On Awards
The Shine On Awards is an annual Australia wide Rotary recognition program that acknowledges exceptional service to others by people with disabilities. The candidates for the Shine On Awards have to demonstrate a significant level of achievement, while at the same time managing their specific medical conditions or disabilities. They must also have consistently given dedicated service to the community.
Each year, nominations for eligible recipients are submitted to the Shine On Committee for consideration, in the Young nominees categories (aged 15 to 25 years), and Adult nominees aged 25 years and over.
The Rotary Club of Diamond Creek proudly nominated its own member, Ebony Watson, for 2020 – 2021, recognising her for her for her amazing ongoing contribution to community service. We were extremely proud to see her accept her award at the Awards Ceremony.
In 2024, the Rotary Club of Diamond Creek was honoured to be the host club for the Victorian Shine On Awards. Awardees and their families and friends travelled from all over Victoria to be part of this very special event.
Three young people were recognised in the Youth section and there were 14 recipients in the Adult section. This year there were two overall winners of the Adult Higher Recognition Trophy – Peter Talbot (nominated by the Rotary Club of Diamond Creek) and Hannah Bradsworth (nominated by the Rotary Club of Foster). Both have made exceptional contributions to their local communities.
