'It always seems impossible, until it's done.'
- Nelson Mandela
This is my final Tedditorial!
I am not going into a long discussion on the year’s achievements and activities – you will be able to read all about those things in the Annual Report.
Reflecting upon the past year, it seems to have flown. It seems like only yesterday that I was preparing for Changeover and to take on the President’s role. But here we are ready for the next Changeover and for Alicia to move into the President’s position.
To say that I have learnt a lot would be an understatement. Despite having had office bearer’s positions in other organisations and having held management roles at work, I have learnt about meeting procedure. I have learnt so much more about Rotary as an organisation and the wonderful things that it does. Having been President has only served to confirm my commitment to Rotary and my ongoing enthusiasm for all the amazing things that it does. But above all, I think that I have learnt more about people – people within our club and those from other community organisations with whom we deal. Each person is unique and has their own individual idiosyncrasies and in running a club, it is important to try to cater to the different views of so many.
Finally, I would like to thank Diamond Creek Rotary for the opportunity to be President. And, to thank all those members who have assisted me this year, whether Board members or Chairs, or simply ordinary members. Your support and assistance has been very much appreciated. I will certainly look back on this year with very fond memories.
