‘Giving is not just about making a donation, it’s about making a difference.’
How true! This year Diamond Creek Rotary has made many donations, contributed to a number of good causes and sponsored various projects and programs. But above all, in making these contributions, we hope that we have helped to make a difference.
Over the past couple of weeks, I have been compiling the Annual Report ready for next week’s Changeover and I am very proud of the amount of money that our club has contributed over the past year. We have spent in excess of $85,000 on community and international projects! That is an amazing amount of money!
When you read the Annual Report, you will see an itemised breakdown of all of our contributions and the wide variety of projects that we have funded.
We have supported all of the local schools in their leadership programs and made sizeable donations to three of them for other projects.
We have backed a number of Rotary Projects such as: Wheelchairs for Kids, ROMAC, RAM, Aquabox, ShelterBox and Polio Plus, to name just a few.
We have assisted a number of local community organisations such as the Wattle Glen CFA, the Diamond Creek Men’s Shed and the Diamond Creek Football and Netball Clubs.
Internationally, we have continued to support our projects at the Tenderfoot School in Kenya and Run Out Of Poverty in the Philippines.
The list literally goes on and on!
We could not begin to add up the number of lives that our donations may assist. It is something that we will never know. However, I think that we can safely assume that somewhere and somehow, Diamond Creek Rotary has made a difference!
