The Rotary Club of Delhi Garden City in India was chartered in 1989. Their primary motto is: 'To promote children's health and education.'
One of the club's major projects has been to address the sanitation issues in local schools. They have undertaken several projects which have involved: the renovation of toilets (including plumbing, fittings and flooring); installation of hand wash stations for children to wash their hands; provided education on sanitation and hygiene issues to children; and have assisted with daily supervised hand-washing by children before and after meals. They have renovate 188 toilets and installed 205 handwash stations at 14 different schools. This has impacted upon 18,700 children. An amazing effort!
The club has also been supporting the Balgram Orphanage since 1999. Children at Balgram are either abandoned, orphaned or destitute children and range in age from one month to 21 years. The club supports the orphanage by funding dietary and nutritional supplements and providing milk and fruit on a daily basis. The club also paid for and undertook a major building renovation through a Rotary Foundation Matching Grant.
The Rotary Club of Delhi Garden City meets on Fridays at 1.00pm
